Quakers speak out on same-sex marriage

Helen Drewery, general secretary of Quaker Peace & Social Witness, was quoted on Channel 4 news as part of a segment about whether Britain is ready for same-sex marriage. Here is the excerpt:

C4: Civil partnerships will soon be allowed in consenting places of worship and consideration will be given by the government as to whether they have the same legal weight as marriage, something that Quakers have wanted for some time.

C4: Do you think britain is ready?

HD: Yes I think we are actually.

C4: Why?

HD: I think there has been significant movement on attitudes to homosexuality and to gay relationships in recent years and I think we are coming to see that it is just a normal part of the wide spectrum of human relationships and its fine, no problem.
